Manchester spoil the home debut of Robbie Peers and the new Gladiators, handing the Gladiators their sixth loss of the season in a 76 – 100 game at Playsport.
The first quarter started strong for the Gladiators leading at the end 21-18 in a back-and-forth battle that saw electric dunks and strong inside play. The game was too close to call during the first 10 minutes of action, but that would soon change.
Manchester Basketball came strong into the second quarter, beating the Gladiators 13 – 27 in the quarter to take a commanding lead into half time. A tough half for the Caledonia Gladiators as they struggled to score and rebound with Manchester taking full advantage to take control of the game. The Caledonia Gladiators entered half-time down by 11.
The third quarter saw Manchester Basketball continue their dominance, pushing their lead to 21 points, winning the quarter 21 – 31. Despite a close quarter, the Gladiators saw themselves facing a large deficit entering the final 10 minutes of action in this Super League Basketball Championship game.
The Caledonia Gladiators started to fight their way back in the final quarter of play managing to cut the lead to 11 points. But Manchester had too much fight in them and seized the win in Playsport. Manchester picked up their first win of the Championship.
