Tough defeat for the Gladiators tonight at Playsport as they hosted the London Lions in a festive match-up as part of the Super League Basketball Championship. As part of a Gladiators doubleheader at home, both teams were unable to come away with the win. In the last match-up before Christmas, Gladiators struggled against a strong, top of the table London Lions team.

The Lions came in with a point to prove in the first quarter, after dropping their first game at Playsport in the SLB Championship. The Caledonia Gladiators and London Lions were evenly matched in the first 5 minutes of the game, but the Lions would soon separate themselves creating a 10 -23 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Caledonia Gladiators struggled to shoot during this quarter, coming up empty from three during the first 10 minutes.

The second quarter saw the Gladiators continue to struggle to score again, only scoring 8 points during the 10 minutes of action. The Gladiators fell to a 18 – 42 deficit by half time, due to the London Lions strong defence and continued struggling from behind the line.

By Half-Time the score was 18 – 42 to the London Lions.

The third quarter saw the London Lions continue their dominance, pushing their lead even further, winning the quarter 15 -29 and creating a 38-point deficit for the Caledonia Gladiators to fight back from in the final quarter.

The Caledonia Gladiators kept fighting going into the fourth quarter. Winning the final 20 – 13, cutting the deficit to 31-points, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the might of the London Lions. The Caledonia Gladiators struggled from 3-point range, shooting a low 19%.

The Final Score was 53 – 84 to London Lions
