Following the draw for Basketball Champions League’s qualification round, the winner of the pre-qualifier fixture between Caledonia Gladiators and Fribourg Olympic will face Poland’s Legia Warszawa in the first round of qualifying fixtures, with the teams playing for one of three spots in the BCL Group stage.
The winning team of the pre-qualifier will advance, whilst the loser will drop down to the Europe Cup, FIBA’s secondary competition.
Alongside Gladiators/Fribourg and Legia Warszawa in the group will be Mornar Barsko Zlato (Montenegro), who face Obradoiro (Spain). This means that the advancing side would face the winner of the other game.
Warsaw will bring a huge challenge to the advancers, having won the Polish Championship seven times, and competing in European competition seven times (EuroLeague x4, FIBA Saporta Cup x2, FIBA Europe Cup x1)
The fixture will be played in Antalya, Turkey, between 25th September and 1st October (final dates, venues, and ticket details remain to be officially confirmed).
