The match between Cheshire Phoenix and Caledonia Gladiators was an intense contest, with Cheshire Phoenix pulling off a commanding 95-74 victory.

Held at Cheshire’s home court, the game highlighted Phoenix’s efficient offense, balanced scoring, and dominant rebounding presence. Caledonia struggled to keep pace, especially in key moments when Cheshire’s defensive intensity led to turnovers and fast breaks and ultimately lost out in the fourth quarter with a struggling offensive effort.

Cheshire Phoenix jumped to an early lead, showing dominance in the paint and executing their offense efficiently. Cameron Holden and Tahjai Teague led Phoenix’s scoring efforts, while Caledonia struggled to find rhythm despite Isaiah Hill‘s contributions. Cheshire finished with a solid 13-point advantage.

Caledonia began clawing back, with Fraser Malcolm and Tanner Stuckman making crucial plays, but Cheshire maintained a high shooting percentage, especially from their starters. Cheshire outscored Caledonia in fast break points, maintaining control heading into halftime by a fine margin of two.

The third quarter began with Caledonia determined to close the gap. Fraser Malcolm led the charge, scoring 8 points in the quarter, including two key 3-pointers. Kyle Jimenez also provided much-needed energy off the bench, making smart plays and sinking all his free throws. However, Cheshire maintained their advantage with a balanced offensive attack. Skyler White knocked down a crucial three-pointer, and Teague continued to wreak havoc in the paint, scoring consistently and bringing his shooting percentage up to an impressive 80%. Phoenix’s ability to score inside, coupled with their solid perimeter defense, prevented Caledonia from finding any momentum. The Gladiators struggled to string together stops, and Phoenix’s lead grew back to 4 by the end of the quarter.

The final quarter saw Cheshire Phoenix close out the game with composure. Despite a late push by Caledonia, which included 6 quick points from Trevond Barnes, Cheshire’s offense proved too efficient to be caught. Cameron Holden continued his stellar performance, finishing with 20 points, and Larry Austin Jr. added another 6 points, completing a highly effective outing off the bench. Caledonia’s defense showed signs of fatigue, and their shooting woes continued, especially from beyond the arc where they shot only 33% overall. Turnovers and foul trouble further hindered any hopes of a comeback for the Gladiators. Cheshire’s bench players, including David Ulph, stepped in during the final minutes to maintain the lead, as Phoenix ran the clock down. The game ended with a commanding 21-point victory for the Cheshire Phoenix. A debut from young Scot Jamie Adair being the only highlight of a poor final quarter for Gladiators.
