The Caledonia Gladiators saw their largest win of the season with a 67-point win on the road against the London Lions. Building on their historic semi-final win in the Betty Codona Trophy, the Gladiators showed out in the Capital to pick up their third Super League Basketball Championship win, moving a 3-3 record.

The Caledonia Gladiators started the game strong with a 13 – 4 run in the first 5 minutes of action. However, the London Lions were kept fighting throughout the next 5 minutes of the quarter to keep the Gladiators lead to 10 with the score for the quarter being 14 -24 to the Gladiators.

Despite the 10-point lead, the London Lions stayed competitive in the second quarter of action with the score for the second quarter being 12 – 19 to the Caledonia Gladiators, with the Gladiators lead stretching to 17. A strong first half of the game put the Caledonia Gladiators in the driving seat, but it was just the start. The second half would see the Gladiators run away with the game, with every Gladiator contributing.

Coming out of the half the Gladiators were near perfect with a 25-2 score for the 10 minutes of action. Unbelievable defence saw the Gladiators prevent the Lions from scoring from open play, with the Lions only points of the quarter coming from the free throw line. Whereas the Gladiators saw a strong quarter scoring quarter.

By the time the final quarter came about the Gladiators had amassed a 40-point lead effectively putting the game to bed. However, the Gladiators did not take their foot off the gas, with their biggest scoring quarter of the game. The final quarter ended 31 – 4 to the Gladiators. With the final buzzer sounding, the Gladiators secured a 67-point win against the London Lions.

Today’s MVP was Kat Tudor with an amazing 24 points in less than 15 minutes of action today in London. Kat shot an efficient 6 – 11 from three-point range!

With this huge win in London, the Caledonia Gladiators have started building momentum entering the festive period. They look to continue their recent success next Sunday in a Playsport doubleheader. The Caledonia Gladiators women will play Leicester Riders on the 22nd before they enter their winter break!
