Following the announcement by the British Basketball Federation, the governing body of the British Basketball League, to terminate the current professional league licence, Caledonia Gladiators has joined fellow clubs across the UK and have issued the following statement:
Following what has been a very challenging period in recent times, we understand the decision to act by the British Basketball Federation was not taken without serious consideration of what would be best for the future of professional basketball across the UK.
The British Basketball League has made a significant impact in the growth of the game in profile, participation, development pathways, performance and within new purpose built arenas across the UK. It is our intention to continue delivering these contributions in partnership with the relevant bodies.
Our belief in British basketball remains steadfast and we continue to get ready for next season for both our men’s and women’s teams.
