Caledonia Gladiators Basketball is delighted to announce the appointment of Alan Keane as Assistant Coach for the men’s team. Returning to the Gladiators Alan’s exceptional coaching background and impressive track record make him an invaluable addition to our coaching staff.
Alan Keane’s coaching journey has been nothing short of remarkable. His insights and expertise will play a crucial role in further elevating the team’s performance.
Currently serving as the U18 GB Men’s Head Coach, Alan’s leadership and mentorship have been pivotal in nurturing young talent on the national stage. His dedication to player development aligns perfectly with the Gladiators’ commitment to fostering growth both on and off the court.
Alan’s recent role as the head coach of Boroughmuir Blaze in the SBC Senior Men Division 1 2022/2023 Championship, exemplifies his ability to lead a team to success. His strategic acumen, coupled with his motivational coaching style, has earned him the respect of players and fellow coaches alike.
Head Coach Gareth Murray said; ‘I am delighted to now be working with Alan on a full-time basis, building upon our past collaboration. His extensive experience in various levels and aspects of basketball adds immense value to our team. With Alan and Darryl on board, our coaching team boasts a comprehensive range of knowledge and expertise. Together, we should strive to become the top player development and professional team in the country.’
As Assistant Coach, Alan Keane will work closely with Head Coach Gareth Murray, and Assistant Coach Darryl Wood, contributing to player development, tactical planning, and fostering a winning culture within the Gladiators organisation. His vast experience in various coaching roles will undoubtedly complement the team’s pursuit of excellence on the court.
Alan said; “It is a great time to be joining Caledonia Gladiators and to be a part of Scottish basketball in general. Working with Gareth and the coaching staff brings about a great level of excitement but also seeing the quality of the players Coach Murray has put together and the opportunity to compete in European competitions made my decision very easy. Like most, I eagerly await the start of the season and the opportunity to part of a unique time for Scottish basketball.”
