Caledonia Gladiators are thrilled to announce the signing of Ella Doherty, a dynamic 5’11 guard from Powmill, Scotland ahead of the 2025-26 SLB Season.
Doherty returns home to Scotland after experiencing the United State collegiate system at CSU Monterey Bay and the University of Toledo. At CSU Monterey Bay she averaged 12.8 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game, delivering standout performances, including a 37-point game and a 14-rebound outing, underlining her ability to impact the game on multiple levels.
Before heading to the United States to develop in their collegiate systems, Doherty honed her skills with Perth Phoenix, coming up through their youth team system, and gained professional experience with Caledonia Pride in the WBBL, where she spent three years with the team. Her time with the Caledonia Pride was highlighted by a 25-point performance against London and helped to earn her a prestigious selection to the U19 Hoopsfix All-Star Classic in 2021. Her development has also been shaped by international competition where she has represented Great Britain on the FIBA 3X3 circuit, most recently featuring in the 2025 Youth Nations League.
Doherty looks to bring energy to the Caledonia Gladiators backcourt, ready to take the floor again to fight for Scotland and the Gladiators. Her signing is a testament to her hard work over the years and the club’s commitment to developing and showcasing homegrown Scottish talent at the highest level of British Basketball. Fans will get their first chance to see Ella Doherty in action with the Gladiators as they tip off the start of their 2025-26 campaign.
