Debut Delight for Nino Satha Despite Home Defeat at Playsport

Caledonia Gladiators fell to a 92–70 defeat against Sheffield Sharks at Playsport, with a strong second-half performance from the visitors proving decisive.

The Gladiators competed well in the first half, moving the ball effectively and creating good scoring opportunities to stay within reach. Their energy on both ends kept the contest tight early on, with contributions shared across the lineup.

After the break, however, Sheffield found another gear. Dominant interior scoring and consistent trips to the free-throw line helped the Sharks pull away in the third quarter before managing the game through the fourth. Ethan Wright led Caledonia with 17 points, while Matthew Ragsdale added 13 in a determined effort.

Despite the result, there was a memorable moment for the home crowd. Caledonia Blues guard Nino Satha made his senior debut and scored his first professional points in style, knocking down a three-pointer with his first attempt. Playsport erupted as the shot fell, with teammates rising to celebrate and showing huge support for the young guard’s milestone moment.

The Gladiators will look to regroup and respond in their next Championship fixture against Manchester Basketball on the road, before returning home to take on the Cheshire Phoenix on Sunday, 8th of March.
