The Caledonia Gladiators headed down to Bristol this evening to take on the Bristol Flyers in an important game for both teams. With a playoff berth up for grabs both teams headed into the game determined for the win, and the step closer to the Super League Basketball Playoffs. However, despite amazing form by Jonny Bunyan’s Gladiators, the men would fall on the road to the Bristol Flyers.

The first quarter would finish with little between the two teams, with the Flyers taking the narrow 2-point margin into the next quarter. Both teams looked evenly matched to start the game, trading baskets and leads for the first 3 minutes of the game. The Flyers would begin to increase their lead during the quarter, quickly taking the 7-point lead at the end of the first five minutes of the game. The Gladiators kept their heads held high and fought back in the next five minutes of action to finish the first quarter. The score entering the second quarter was 22 – 20 to the Bristol Flyers.
With the Flyers shooting well from 3-point range, they would increase their lead during the second quarter and would finish the half with a lead of 6 points. The Bristol Flyers would start the second quarter strong with five unanswered points to take a 7-point lead, before Albert Ventura would hit a big three-pointer to kick off the Gladiators scoring after the team would go scoreless for the first 5 minutes of the second quarter. The two teams would begin to trade baskets to finish out the first half of action. The Bristol Flyer would take the lead into the half time break in front of their home crowd.
The half time score was 38 – 32 to the Bristol Flyers.

The Flyers would continue to increase their lead to start the second half of the game. The Bristol Flyers would win the third quarter by 4 points, increasing their lead to 10 by the end of the third quarter. The Flyers would continue to shoot well from behind the three-point line, and despite remaining close in every quarter the Gladiators would find themselves entering the final 10 minutes of the game down by double digits. Entering the final quarter of action the game was still open for either team to win despite the Flyers 10-point lead.

Despite fighting hard on both ends of the floor, the Gladiators would be unable to fight their way back into the game, with the Flyers increasing their lead further in the final quarter. The Flyers would quickly double their lead in first five minutes of the fourth quarter, despite the deficit the Gladiators kept fighting but would be unable to put a dent in the Flyers lead. The Bristol Flyers would take a commanding 19-point win in front of their home court.
The Final Score was 81 – 62 to the Bristol Flyers.
