Gladiators Battle Hard but Fall Short Against Lions in 81–73 Defeat

The Caledonia Gladiators gave a determined performance on the road but ultimately fell 81–73 to the London Lions in a game defined by physicality, momentum swings, and costly mistakes at key moments.

Kevin Allen led the way for the visitors with a dominant 26-point performance, shooting 10-of-17 from the field and going a perfect 6-of-6 from the free-throw line. He was a force in the paint all night, also pulling down 7 rebounds and contributing on both ends of the floor. Ethan Wright added 15 points and 8 rebounds working tirelessly to keep the Gladiators in the game as the Lions tightened the pressure in the second half.

The Gladiators started well, matching the Lions stride for stride in a first half that saw neither side able to pull away. But as the game wore on, The Gladiators struggles with ball security and depth became more apparent. They turned the ball over 15 times, which London converted into 20 points. The Lions also enjoyed a major boost from their bench, outscoring Caledonia’s reserves 35 to 16, a difference that proved decisive.

The Lions leaned on their ball movement (21 assists to the Gladiators’ 12) and physical rebounding to edge ahead in the closing stages. Every time the Gladiators looked set to close the gap, London responded, often capitalizing on turnovers or second-chance opportunities.

It was a poor strong by the Gladiators, they showed resilience, hustle, and moments of quality, but the Lions were more composed in the crucial stretches and made better use of their opportunities.

The Gladiators will look for revenge next Sunday when the Lions travel to Playsport for a rematch in our Halloween Special.
