Gladiators Battle Hard but Fall Short in Bristol

Bristol Flyers 103, Caledonia Gladiators 94
Championship 2025–26 | SGS College Arena | 14 November 2025

Caledonia Gladiators went to war in Bristol but ultimately fell 103–94 in a hard-fought battle that was set on a fierce first-quarter surge from the Flyers, and a strong comeback by the Gladiators in the third quarter.

The Bristol Flyers landed the heavy punches during the first quarter, but the Gladiators would fight back to keep the game from getting out of hand early on the road. Despite being down by 10 entering the half-time break, the Gladiators kept their head high and refocused on their game entering the second half.

The second half was a different tale, as the Gladiators fought themselves back into the game, with Bristol forced into a buzzer beater to keep their lead on their home court. The Gladiators would keep their intensity high, staying within the game right till the final minutes, but would be unable to hold off a strong Flyers team.

Matthew Ragsdale was sensational off the bench, erupting for 29 points and drilling 5-of-7 from deep (71%), sparking multiple counterattacks that kept the Gladiators alive. Ethan Wright led the charge from the starting five with 24 points, attacking relentlessly and matching Bristol shot for shot.

In the paint, Kevin Allen battled to 15 points and 8 rebounds, while the night also marked the debut of Andrew Gordon, who brought energy, grit, and 2 blocks in his first Gladiators appearance.

Despite shooting an impressive 56% from the field and 52% from three, turnovers and Bristol’s momentum swings proved decisive. The Gladiators fought to the final whistle, but the Flyers’ mid-game onslaught created too much ground to recover.

Caledonia Gladiators now turn their focus to the next clash, armed with firepower, fresh depth, and the signs of a team ready to strike back. The Gladiators return home this Sunday to take on Surrey 89ers at Playsport.
