Caledonia Gladiators welcome Oaklands Wolves to PlaySport at 12 PM in Women’s British Basketball League Championship action.
Gladiators are yet to match up with Wolves for the first time this season, making the game at PlaySport the first time the sides have met since the 22/23 campaign. In January, Oaklands travelled to Paisley, with Caledonia coming out 84-57 victors. Then, in March, Miguel Ortega’s side picked up a win on the road – 54-81, thanks to impressive performances from Abbie Wolf (26 PTS | 13 REB | 4 AST) and Chantelle Handy (19 PTS | 8 REB | 4 AST).
Currently, in the league table, Gladiators sit in 4th place with an impressive 5-1 record, having played two fewer games than #3 Hatters, and one less game than #2 Riders. Wolves, on the other hand, sit just within the playoff picture at 8th place, on a 3-5 record – equal to the Manchester Giants in 7th.
So far, domestically, Yevheniia Putra has been leading the way for the Scottish side, putting up a solid 12.2 PPG, 6.3 RPG, and 1.8 SPG against British competition – dominating on the inside. Oaklands’ star power has come from Caterrion Thompson, averaging an impressive 15.8 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 2.5 assists in just under 30 minutes a night. The side from St. Albans also has four players averaging double-digits in scoring.
As the start to an epic double-gameday experience, the sides are set to battle it out in what’s looking like an exciting one – Gladiators hoping to make their way nearer the top of the table, and Wolves looking to lock in a Playoff spot by the end of the regular season.
