Caledonia Gladiators produced an outstanding second-half performance to defeat the Leicester Riders in Super League Basketball action at Playsport Arena, in front of a fantastic Mother’s Day crowd.

The atmosphere inside Playsport was electric as a big crowd turned out to celebrate the occasion. Leicester started the stronger of the two sides, with the Gladiators struggling to find their rhythm offensively in the opening half as the Riders controlled much of the early momentum.

The Gladiators regrouped after the break and came out with renewed energy. The Gladiators’ defence tightened and their offence began to click, sparking an incredible turnaround. A dominant second-half display saw the home side take control of the contest and pull away in the final quarter.
Ria’n Holland led the way and was named MVP after a superb performance, finishing with 21 points. He was supported by Ethan Wright, who also added 21 points, while Matthew Ragsdale contributed 15 and Jett Speelman added 12.

The Gladiators’ second-half intensity proved decisive, allowing them to overturn the first-half deficit and secure a memorable home victory in front of their supporters on a special Mother’s Day afternoon.
The Gladiators will head out on the road to look to replicate this performance down in Leicester on Friday the 20th of March and down to take on the might of the London Lions on April 3rd. The Gladiators will be back at Playsport on April 5th to take on their rivals, Newcastle Eagles, in the final month of SLB Championship Action.
