Following the confirmation from FIBA’s Basketball Champions League on Monday morning, Caledonia Gladiators will now face Swiss champions, Fribourg Olympic, in a pre-qualifier game for a spot in Basketball CL’s season 8 qualifiers.
The sides will play at a neutral venue for the spot in the tournament’s qualifiers, as the BBL Trophy-winning Gladiators will face the 17-time champions of Swiss basketball in a one-off game. Following this, the winner will face up to three two-legged qualifier rounds in order to qualify for the BCL’s regular season, against huge European names such as Galatasaray, UCAM Murcia, and Rytas Vilnius.
The loser of the pre-qualifier fixture, and all further qualifying fixtures, will be offered a place in FIBA’s Europe Cup competition.
Fixture details and location will be confirmed at a later date, but the pre-qualifier game will be held at a neutral venue.
