Caledonia Gladiators secured their first Super League Basketball Championship win in Nottingham this afternoon. Great performance by all our women tonight to win the game by 27 points, 70 – 97.
The first quarter started slow for Gladiators, falling to 15 – 6 at the end of the first five minutes of action at the Nottingham Wildcats Arena. However, the women brought it back in the next 5 minutes to win the quarter by 2 points, 17 – 19.
Once the women got the momentum going, there was no stopping the Gladiators as they dominated the next two quarters of play. A strong second quarter put them in the driving seat of this Super League Basketball Championship match up. Gladiators won the second quarter 12 – 28, aided by strong inside scoring by the team. The score at the half was 29 – 47.
Gladiators remained dominate throughout the third quarter winning the 10-minute quarter by 7, putting Gladiators up 25 going into the last quarter. The Gladiators continued to perform strongly under the basketball, along with four three pointers.
The final quarter was closely contended despite Gladiators being up by 25 at the beginning of the quarter. The score for the quarter was 20 – 22 to the Gladiators, with Nottingham Wildcats showing their mental toughness to finish this game. The Gladiators won the game, 70 – 97.
