Caledonia Gladiators has confirmed today (12 November 2024) that Gareth Murray will move from his current role as Men’s Head Coach to undertake a new position in the club’s High-Performance programme.

Assistant Head Coach, Lluis Riera will oversee the duties as interim Head Coach.

Tony McDaid, CEO of Caledonia Gladiators said:

“Gareth has played an integral role for Caledonia Gladiators, and previously Glasgow Rocks, dedicating almost 20 years to the club as a fantastic player before taking on a coaching role in 2020.

“Gareth led us to our 2023 British Basketball League Trophy, the franchise’s first in 20 years, and has been a fantastic support to all players. We are incredibly grateful for his leadership and commitment to the men’s team, and we look forward to seeing that same passion and drive help mould the very best players of the future as he focusses on our High-Performance programme, supporting Scotland’s young players as they begin their basketball careers.

While we acknowledge this change, we want to assure our fans that we remain focused on our goal to be a leading team within Super League Basketball in the UK.
