There have been plenty of new names bursting onto the scene in the WBBL this season, and one of them has walked away with the first Molten WBBL Player of the Month honours of the season, as Caledonia Gladiators star Erin Jones takes home the golden Molten basketball for September and October.

The Gladiators are currently joint-second in the WBBL Championship table after a 4-1 start, with New Jersey native guard Erin Jones having been hugely impressive in her maiden professional campaign.

She joined the new-look team in the off-season from the University of North Florida, and has done a bit of everything for her team in their excellent start to the campaign, already featuring three times in the weekly All-Star 5 to lead all players in that regard.

Jones is averaging 15 points, nine rebounds, three assists and two steals through her first five league games, shooting an eye-watering 53% from three-point range and 57% from the field overall. She is second in the WBBL in three-point percentage and third in field goal percentage.

Coming off the bench to start the season, she posted double-doubles in each of her first two games, including 17 points and 12 rebounds against Newcastle Eagles; before moving into the starting line-up and posting 21 points, nine rebounds, four assists and four steals in a big road win at Nottingham Wildcats most recently.

The 6’1″ 24-year-old also put up a double-double of 18 points and 12 rebounds to see Gladiators through the first round of the WBBL Cup after a tense overtime battle with Cardiff Met Archers, as she hit the three-pointer with nine seconds remaining that forced the extra period and kept Caledonia in the Cup.
