Gladiators Rally Late to Hold Off Hatters in Tight Home Battle

In a gritty, four-quarter battle at Playsport, the Caledonia Gladiators rallied when it mattered most to notch a 76–71 victory over the B. Braun Sheffield Hatters.

The Hatters came out strong in the first quarter, building a comfortable lead and testing Caledonia’s defence early. But the Gladiators refused to roll over, by halftime they had reduced the deficit to single digits, closing in and setting the tone for a tense second half.

As the third quarter began, Sheffield pushed again and looked to stretch their advantage, but Caledonia responded with poise and grit. Big defensive stops, smart ball movement, and composure under pressure kept the Gladiators within reach.

Down the stretch in the fourth, the Gladiators’ fight paid off. Key moments at the free-throw line and hard-fought possessions helped them pull steadily ahead. Ultimately, The Gladiators’ resilience and refusal to back down secured the win, capping off a strong comeback with a five-point margin.

Standouts included Mathilde Domenger, who led the way with 24 points off the bench and took home MVP honours, and Tierra Hodges, who added 16 and controlled the tempo all game, while Annie Warren scored 22 with efficient two-point shooting and made all her free throws. With the home fans behind them, the Gladiators stole back the game, and showed their fighting spirit and teamwork throughout.

The Gladiators closed out a hard-earned win through discipline, fight, and a clutch finish, a reminder of their growing resolve. The Gladiators will be back at Playsport next Sunday to take on Cardiff Met Archers in a St Andrew’s Day Clash!
