Caledonia Gladiators can confirm that Chantelle Handy has made the personal decision to step away from her role as a Head Coach, making Season 2025/26 her final season with Caledonia Gladiators Women.
Following two and a half remarkable seasons as Head Coach, Chantelle leaves behind a lasting legacy for success, with historic achievements for both the club and Scottish basketball.
Chantelle first joined the Gladiators in 2022 as a player/assistant coach during the inaugural season of the club’s professional women’s programme. Her leadership and unwavering passion for the game quickly made her an integral part of the team and, after a season and a half, she was promoted to the role of Head Coach.
Under her guidance, the Gladiators Women enjoyed the most successful period in the team’s history. During the 2024/25 season, Chantelle led the team to SLB Trophy success, bringing silverware back to the club, while also guiding the Gladiators to two finals appearances and a second-place finish in the league for season 2025/26 – landmark accomplishments for the organisation and for Scottish basketball on the professional stage.
Beyond the results on the court, Chantelle has played a vital role in building the culture at Caledonia Gladiators but also the wider standards of the women’s league, inspiring players, staff, supporters, and the wider basketball community throughout her time with the club.
Everyone at Caledonia Gladiators would like to thank Chantelle for her outstanding contribution, commitment, and leadership over the past three seasons and wish her every success in the future.
Supporters will be able to hear directly from Chantelle tomorrow as she sits down with Lisa Palombo to reflect on her journey.
