  • Working Hours: Flexible, including weekends and game days

 

We are seeking an excellent sports therapist to support the medical and performance provision for the Caledonia Gladiators Women’s Professional Basketball Team. As the primary day-to-day therapist, you will be responsible for the assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, and ongoing management of player injuries. The Club has access to external physiotherapy services and an orthopaedic consultant as part to the broader multidisciplinary team for further support with injury assessment and management of complex cases.

The successful candidate will be highly competent in delivering optimal recovery strategies, including soft tissue therapy. This is an ideal opportunity for a motivated therapist to gain hands-on experience in a professional basketball environment while continuing their development.

Key Responsibilities
• Oversee the assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, and return-to-play management of player injuries, coordinating multidisciplinary input to ensure effective care.
• Provide high-quality soft tissue therapy and recovery strategies to optimise player recovery.
• Deliver court-side trauma management during training and games (home and away).
• Contribute to and support the delivery of injury prevention initiatives and physical preparation to optimise player health and performance.
• Maintain accurate medical records and ensure confidentiality in line with regulatory standards.
• Keep up to date with research and developments in sports therapy, soft tissue techniques, and recovery practices.
• Uphold and promote the club’s values at all times, both on and off the court.

Qualifications
Essential:
• BSc (Hons) in Sports Therapy/ BSc (Hons) Sports Rehabilitation/ BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy
• Full membership of SST/ BASRaT/ CSP
• Sports Trauma Qualification (e.g. ITMMiF; PHICIS Level 2; LUBAS Medical)
• Safeguarding qualification or willingness to obtain upon appointment
• Must have a UK work permit

Desirable:
• Strength and conditioning qualification

Experience & Skills
Essential:
• Strong practical skills in soft tissue therapy and manual therapy techniques
• Understanding of assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and recovery in a sporting environment
• High level of organisation and attention to detail in maintaining documentation
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel as required
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Willingness to learn and grow in a high-performance sports environment

Desirable:
• Previous experience in a basketball or sporting environment (including placements)
• Familiarity with player monitoring systems (e.g. wellness, loading)
• Understanding of return-to-play and injury prevention processes
• Experience of delivering injury prevention and physical preparation programmes
