Caledonia Gladiators suffered a 98–76 defeat to Sheffield Sharks on Sunday afternoon in their first away game of the 2026/27 Super League Basketball season, taking their record to 1–1 after the opening two games.

Despite the result, the Caledonia Gladiators showed individual quality and determination, with Christian Keeling leading the scoring with an impressive 23 points and seven rebounds. Terry Roberts also made a strong contribution, finishing with 17 points and 2 assists as the pair led the offensive effort.

The Gladiators started the game competitively after a slow couple minutes, with Keeling helping the team stay within six points at the end of the opening quarter, trailing 23–17. Caledonia continued to battle in the second period, but Sheffield extended the gap to 42–31 by half-time.

After the break, the Gladiators looked to find their rhythm offensively, with Keeling and Roberts continuing to lead the way. Despite their efforts, the team struggled to close the deficit, heading into the final quarter trailing by 20 points.

Caledonia continued to compete in the closing stages, showing resilience and looking to build momentum ahead of their next fixture. However, the deficit proved too much to overcome, with the game finishing 98–76.

With a victory already secured in their season opener against Liverpool Basketball, the Gladiators will look to take the positives from their opening two games as they prepare for their next challenge.

The Gladiators return to the road on Friday to face Newcastle Eagles, aiming to bounce back and get back to winning ways.
