The British Basketball League have confirmed today that Caledonia Gladiators head coach, Gareth Murray, has won February’s Kevin Cadle Molten Coach of the Month.
This impressive award comes thanks to the Gladiators’ 4-0 record in league play (5-0 in all competitions) during the second month of the year. Gareth’s coaching, scouting and recent recruitments of Aljami Durham and Fahro Alihodzic have been key contributors towards this impressive run, which continued on Wednesday evening as the squad confirmed their place in the BBL Trophy Final following an 18-point victory in Derby over NBL D1 side, Trailblazers, who put up a great fight.
A special mention must also go out to Gladiators’ assistant coach, Darryl Wood, who led the team as acting Head Coach in their 88-70 victory over Surrey Scorchers last week, as Gareth remained on GB duty as the nation’s assistant coach.
Currently, the Scottish side sit 4th in the BBL Championship table, having started the month in 6th. Now, they are 6 points off the top 3 with a huge double-header away weekend in Surrey and London as they take on the Scorchers and Lions.
