Following a successful weekend of basketball from the BBL and WBBL sides, both picking up victories over Cheshire Phoenix and Manchester Met Mystics respectively, the Gladiators’ BBL team, led by Gareth Murray is preparing for another busy week: Leicester Riders away in the BBL Cup Semi-Final, followed by a home Championship matchup against Sheffield Sharks this Sunday.

David Sloan, Jeremiah Bailey and co. look to improve on their current 6-0 record at home, following Friday’s authoritative win over the Cheshire Phoenix, where the American duo were both named in the British Basketball League All-Star five.

The two squads are in a similar position so far in the BBL Championship season so far. Gladiators (7-6), fuelled by their recent run of impeccable form, sit in fifth place. Sharks (7-9), who have played three more games than the Scots, also have 14 points so far.

Until this point, Gareth Murray’s team have been flawless at home with six wins and no losses. Sheffield Sharks, who travel north to the Emirates Arena, have been on mixed form as the visitors, with four wins and four defeats.

For Caledonia, Jeremiah Bailey has been playing in the form of his life, being named in the British Basketball League all-star five in the past four occasions. His 36 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists were vital to his team’s 117-96 victory over Cheshire this weekend. His point guard counterpart and fellow American, David Sloan also impressed, with a monumental 23 points, 1 rebound and 10 assist outing.

So far this season, the points have been shared between Atiba Lyons’ team. Saeed Nelson and Kipper Nichols are leading the way for them, scoring 13.3 and 13 points per game individually.
