Following another impressive performance during this weekend’s comeback victory against Newcastle Eagles in front of an enthusiastic Glasgow crowd, Gladiators forward, Jeremiah Bailey has been named in the British Basketball League All-Star Five (Week 11) for a third consecutive week, and a fourth time overall this season. He also picked up the Siabann Skincare MVP award on the evening.

The Alaska native, who is playing his first season professionally scored 28 points, grabbed nine rebounds, and dished out two assists in the 81-77 home victory over the travelling Newcastle Eagles.

Following the win over Eagles, Jeremiah Bailey said: “We had to get ready for the game quick, we knew what type of team they were: a very hard nose, grimy team, and the score dictates that. We had to bring our energy, especially after how the performance of our last game went. A lot of improvements can be made, we have a lot of better basketball ahead.”

Bailey is continuing a solid recent run of form personally. In BBL Championship competition, he is second in the team behind only David Sloan in points (13.1) and assists (2.9) per game, leading the Gladiators in rebounds per game (8.9), and is joint top, alongside Prince Onwas, when it comes to steals per game (1.8).

On Friday evening, Bailey, alongside the rest of the squad, had a tough game away to Leicester Riders. He fouled out after nine minutes of play, scoring six points, with five rebounds and one assist during his time on court. It was important for him to bounce back.

Also, in this week’s All-Star Five, Fraser Malcolm received a special mention off the bench. The Scot, who was the standout player on Friday night, picked up Gladiator MVP honours in the away loss to Riders, with a stat line of 12 points, nine rebounds, and one assist.
