Caledonia Gladiators have added more depth to their growing squad by securing the signing of talented Senegalese-Spanish centre, Sokhna Bintou Lo. Standing tall at 6’2″, ‘Bintou’ brings a wealth of experience and versatility to the team as they prepare to compete in the highly anticipated Women’s British Basketball League (WBBL) and EuroCup Women this upcoming campaign.
Last seen displaying her skills in Spain’s LF-Challenge division during the 21/22 season with Advisoria Mataro Maresme, Bintou showcased her prowess on the court. Despite missing out in the 22/23 season, her performance in the 21/22 campaign was commendable, averaging 3.6 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 0.8 assists in around 20 minutes of playing time a game.
Known for her tenacity and rebounding ability, Lo’s presence in the paint adds a formidable asset to Gladiators’ growing WBBL roster. Her season-high performance against Lima-Horta, where she contributed an impressive 12 points, demonstrated her capability to step up when it matters most.
Prior to her stint with Advisoria Mataro Maresme, the talented centre competed with Ausarta Barakaldo in LF2 during the 20/21 season. Her experience in the Spanish leagues have further honed her skills, making her a valuable addition to the Gladiators’ squad.
Sokhna Bintou Lo’s signing comes as one of the final additions to the Gladiators’ roster, further bolstering their strength as they gear up for an exciting season in both the WBBL and EuroCup Women. With her height and athleticism, she promises to be a significant asset on both ends of the court.
