Caledonia Gladiators have made their second new signing for the men’s team ahead of the 2026/27 Super League Basketball season, with American-Irish forward Matt Zona joining the club.
The 6ft 9in New Yorker arrives in Scotland after an impressive first professional season with Cheshire Phoenix, where he played as forward/centre and helped guide the team to the Super League Basketball Play-off Final at London’s O2 Arena
Before beginning his professional career in the UK, Zona enjoyed a successful collegiate career at Fordham University, earning a reputation for his high-energy style of play, defensive intensity and outstanding basketball IQ.
Known for his relentless work ethic and ability to make an impact at both ends of the floor, Zona adds further quality to Head Coach Jonny Bunyan’s squad as the Gladiators continue to build an exciting roster for the new campaign.
