WBBL club captain, Erin McGarrachan, will return to Miguel Ortega’s squad following a successful 22/23 campaign, where she led the team – earning a position in the league’s All-British Team of the Year. Also, in the summer, McGarrachan represented Great Britain in their EuroBasket ventures, seeing some court time in the continent’s biggest international competition.

Prior to the Gladiators’ debut WBBL campaign, when they finished second in the Championship, Erin featured for a handful of sides: Leicester Riders and Caledonia Pride in the WBBL, as well as Klosternauberg in Austria’s top division. Her professional career came after a four-year collegiate career at Houston Baptist.

Last season, in WBBL action, the 6’0″ Scottish forward averaged 14.7 PPG, 5.3 RPG and 2.1 APG. However, perhaps the most important thing she brought to the side was her leadership, as one of the squad’s leading veterans alongside Robyn Lewis and Chantelle Handy.

Having represented Scotland and GB across her career, McGarrachan has become an international veteran, too, most recently in the latest EuroBasket competition this Summer, where Great Britain fell to Serbia in the end.

Heading into the new season, Erin McGarrachan said: “I’m super excited and really happy to be here. There’s a lot going on with the arena and franchise, and I just can’t wait for it all to get going – it’s beyond my dreams for basketball in Scotland. We’re trying to make big moves in Europe and improve on our position from last year domestically”

Get ready for an exciting 23/24 Gladiators campaign as the sides move to Playsport in East Kilbride with European ambitions and huge goals in sight – news on season tickets and further roster developments are due to be announced in the coming weeks.
