The Caledonia Gladiators were in action tonight on the road against the Surrey 89ers in their first action since the international break. After a close game, the 89ers would take the win on their home court, beating the Gladiators 79 -71.

The first quarter would see both teams battling hard to take the early lead, trading baskets for the first 5 minutes of action. However, the Surrey 89ers would take the early lead, beginning to build their lead in the next 5 minutes. The 89ers would go on a 7-point run before the Gladiators would answer back. The first quarter would end with the 89ers in the lead by 8 points, 24 – 16.

The second quarter would see the two teams battling hard, with little between them. The quarter would end with the 89ers up by 10 points entering half-time, with the Gladiators only losing the quarter by two points, 16 – 14. Both teams struggled from behind the three-point line in the second quarter, going 0 for 12 (0 -6 each), scoring all their points from under the basket.

The 89ers continued to increase their lead in the third quarter, winning the quarter 22 – 18, taking the 14-point lead entering the final 10 minutes of the game. The Gladiators would continue to struggle from behind the arc in the third quarter, continuing to score the majority of their points from inside the paint. Whereas Surrey found their rhythm from three, shooting 50% from behind the line in the third quarter, helping them maintain their lead entering the final quarter in Surrey.

The Gladiators continued to fight despite the deficit they faced on the road. The Gladiators would take the win for final quarter, but it would not be enough to overcome the 14-point deficit and would ultimately fall to the 89ers, 79 -71. The Gladiators would take the final quarter 17 – 23.

The final score was 79 – 71 to the Surrey 89ers.
