After a brief stint at home the Caledonia Gladiators women’s team were back on the road to face off against Manchester Basketball in the Super League Basketball Championship. A tough game for the women saw them fall to Manchester, 84 – 72.
The first quarter started close with the two teams trading baskets for the first 5 minutes but in the final minutes of the quarter, Manchester started to pull away with the quarter 21 – 16. Gladiators remained in the game and didn’t lose heart. The first quarter saw both team struggle from three-point range with most of the points coming from inside the arc.
Manchester continued to push their lead in the second, with the quarter score being 26 – 19 to Manchester Basketball. The half-time score was 47 – 35. Despite the score of the second quarter, Caledonia Gladiators saw improved shooting from three-point range, shooting a strong 5/11, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the strong inside presence of Manchester.

The third quarter saw a tighter contest between the two teams, with the score being 19 – 18 but it wasn’t enough for the Gladiators to make up any ground on the first half deficit. The score going into the fourth quarter was 66 – 53 to Manchester.
The final 10 minutes of the game saw another tight quarter, with Gladiators and Manchester trading buckets through the fourth. Despite winning the fourth quarter, 18 – 19, the Gladiators would ultimately fall to Manchester Basketball in this Super League Basketball game.
Tonight’s MVP was Hannah Robb with a team high 20 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists.
