We are delighted to confirm that Erin McGarrachan, the club’s captain as been selected for Great Britains upcoming Euro Basket campaign!
Chema Buceta’s side practised in camp at Manchester for a few weeks, before heading to Prague and Paris for a handful of games against the Czech Republic and France respectively. They did this in preparation for this Summer’s EuroBasket, set to take place starting this week in Slovenia and Israel.
In the tournament’s only guaranteed games, Great Britain will face Slovenia (15th June), France (16th June), and Germany (18th June).
McGarrachan was amongst 7 WBBL players selected for the final side, alongside players from Leicester Riders, London Lions, Sheffield Hatters and Durham Palatinates.
Buceta thanked the four players who never made the final selection, including Gladiators’ point guard, Robyn Lewis, who put in a valiant effort during the earlier stages of camp,.
The nation’s head coach said: “We know our preparations haven’t been that long, but I’ve been very pleased with how quickly we’ve come together. We have an important few days ahead of us now to improve even further ahead of EuroBasket.”
All of the fixtures will be broadcast live on Courtside 1891, which is available via subscription.
The entire Gladiators organisation are entirely proud of Erin and will be supporting GB from home as they take on the challenge of EuroBasket.
