Caledonia Gladiators are pleased to announce the signing of American guard, Mike Bothwell, who joins the squad ahead of a crucial part of the season. The rookie moves to Scotland after beginning his first professional season in Israel.
Bothwell spent 5 years studying at Furman University. By the time of his super-senior year, he stepped into a top role, averaging 17.7 PPG, 3.4 RPG, and 2.8 APG within 33 minutes per game. Throughout his collegiate career, he averaged 12.8 PPG, 3.1 RPG, and 2.4 APG.
This Summer, the Cleveland native was a part of his hometown Cavaliers’ Summer League roster that went on to win the tournament. He played 5 times in Vegas, averaging 7.5 minutes per game.
The American comes to Scotland ahead of a crucial time in the season, with a few important Championship fixtures in 2023, before focus returns to retaining the Arriving in Scotland this week, Mike won’t be available for Sunday’s British Basketball League fixture but will be a part of Gareth Murray’s roster moving forward.
Head Coach Gareth Murray said: “Mike brings a winning mentality and attitude. He’s a versatile guard who led his Furman team in scoring last year but is a team-first guy. A high-character, hard-working player who should fit in nicely with the group we have this year.”
