We are delighted to confirm that talented forward Taris Thornton has joined Caledonia Gladiators ahead of the upcoming season.
The 6’0″ Chicago native brings significant experience at both college and professional level to East Kilbride. After standout NCAA spells at Eastern Illinois and Tennessee Tech – where she helped the Golden Eagles to an Ohio Valley Conference title – Thornton turned professional in Portugal’s Liga Feminina with Esgueira Aveiro, where she was one of the league’s standout performers last season.
She was named the league’s Player of the Month for January after averaging 21.8 points and 7.3 rebounds across the month, and sat second overall in the league in scoring, averaging 17.6 points, 7 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game across the season.
Head Coach Donnie MacDonald noted: “Taris is a really dynamic player who proved her quality in Portugal last season, where she performed well on both ends of the floor for a competitive team. I think she will be a great fit for our league, particularly within the Gladiators style of play.”
