Caledonia Gladiators are thrilled to announce the signing of talented American guard, Ian DuBose, to their roster for the upcoming 2023/24 season. Standing at 6’4″, DuBose brings a wealth of experience and skill to the team, bolstering their aims for success in the British Basketball League (BBL) and the prestigious Basketball Champions League (BCL).

Last season, DuBose made his mark in Denmark’s Basketligaen, showcasing his versatility and tenacity with Team FOG Naestved. Averaging an impressive 16.8 points, 6.1 rebounds, 5.1 assists, and 1.5 steals per game, he played an instrumental role in leading his team to a commendable second-place finish behind Champions League Qualifers-bound Bakken Bears. His performance on the court earned him a well-deserved spot in EuroBasket.com’s all-Denmark Basketligaen second team, solidifying his status as one of the league’s standout players.

The dynamic guard’s impact in Denmark did not go unnoticed, as he earned the league’s ‘Player of the Week’ award on two separate occasions, a testament to his consistent excellence on the court.

Before embarking on his professional career, DuBose spent three impactful years honing his skills at Houston Baptist University, where he demonstrated his potential as a rising star. In his senior year, he showcased his ability to contribute across the board, averaging 10.9 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game during a season at top school Wake Forest in a more limited role compared to his time in Houston.

DuBose’s journey to professional success continued with a fruitful debut season in Germany, where he suited up for VFL Kirchheim Knights. Additionally, his talent and dedication caught the attention of the NBA G-League, leading to his draft selection from Fort Wayne Mad Ants.

Head Coach Gareth Murray expressed his excitement about the signing, stating, “As a strong and versatile combo guard, Ian’s size and skill set make him an asset against European teams we may face in our campaign. Moreover, his excellent character and reputation align perfectly with our team’s values. We are excited to work with him and believe he will contribute significantly to our goals.”

Elated about joining Caledonia Gladiators, Ian DuBose shared his thoughts on the new chapter in his career, saying,

“I’m really excited to join the Gladiators! I’m looking forward to being a part of a winning culture and competing in European competition! It’s a great opportunity that the team and I have this year to continue the legacy of this outstanding club!
I’m ready to work! I am looking forward to getting to Glasgow and meeting all my teammates and coaches!”

As the team continues to build a formidable roster for the upcoming season, the addition of Ian DuBose promises to bring excitement, skill, and a winning spirit to Caledonia Gladiators. The stage is set for an exhilarating season, the first in PlaySport, East Kilbride, and only the franchise’s second since rebranding.
