The women started off the day off with a strong 20-point win against Manchester Basketball. The Caledonia Gladiators started the day as they planned to go on with a commanding win, setting the tone at Playsport. Strong team performance with 5 players getting double digits and sharing the ball well between them. The Gladiators showed their strong spirit to take the game after a tough loss on the road to Newcastle.

The Gladiators took control early in the first quarter, taking a commanding 11-point lead within the first 5 minutes of action. Guard, Kat Tudor started the game strong, putting up the first five points for the Gladiators. Kirsty Brown added to the points tally, with the help of Delaynie Byrne, to put up 16 points in the first 5 minutes of action. Kat Tudor put up 10 points to lead the Gladiators to a 27 -17 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Manchester were determined to not let the game slip away from them so early in the game and started to fight their way back during the second quarter. The Gladiators would start the second quarter with momentum on their side, increasing their lead to 18-point in the first four minutes of the second quarter, but Manchester refocused and brought the game back to within single digits to 9-points.

The Half-Time score was 47 – 38 to the Caledonia Gladiators.

The Gladiators didn’t let Manchester late comeback attempt of the second quarter distract them from the task at hand. The Gladiators fought to put the game to bed in the third quarter, putting up an impressive 31 points in the third. The Gladiators would get the majority of their shots from within the paint, missing just 4 of their 13 attempts. The Gladiators would enter the final quarter with a commanding lead of 21-points.

Despite continuing to fight, and winning the final quarter by a point, Manchester Basketball would be unable to get themselves back into the game here at Playsport and would fall by a huge margin to the Caledonia Gladiators. Strong performances from the Gladiators in front of the home crowd put on a show, behind Kat Tudor and Kirsty Brown.

The Caledonia Gladiators will be back in action on Mother’s Day to face the London Lions, in their second last home game before the SLB Championship concludes.
