The Caledonia Gladiators men’s side took a triumphant win in this evening’s clash with Bristol Flyers on home ground. The Gladiators made it two wins out of two in our Playsport Doubleheader, building on the success from our women’s game before.

The first quarter was dominated by the Flyers side 17-10 against the Gladiators. Bristol showed their fighting spirit on the road in a quality first quarter. The Caledonia Gladiators struggled from three in the first quarter unable to convert any of their attempts. The game started with both teams trading baskets in a loud Playsport Arena. Towards the end the Flyers would be begin to separate themselves.

The Gladiators were not done fighting, and with the enthusiastic home crowd behind them, they began to cut the Flyers early lead scoring 19-15 against the away side. Despite continuing to struggle from three, the Gladiators would cut the Flyers lead to just 3 points entering the half time break.

The Half-Time Score was 29 – 32 to the Bristol Flyers.

The Gladiators continued their momentum into the second half, putting up an impressive 20 – 8 quarter to take back the lead. The Gladiators put themselves in a strong position entering the final quarter of action at Playsport. Devearl Ramsey and Captain, Fraser Malcolm put the Gladiators in the lead in the first two and a half minutes of second half action. The Gladiators wouldn’t look back, taking their 8-point lead into the final quarter and securing the win.

The Gladiators would take the fourth quarter by three points, increasing their lead to 11 in their win against Bristol Flyers. Despite a late comeback attempt by Bristol in the fourth, the Gladiators would secure a second win of the day in this Playsport Doubleheader. The Gladiators take their first win since January at home, in a must-win game. The Gladiators will now look to replicate this on the road this Wednesday against the Flyers.
