The Gladiators stormed their way to victory, leading throughout the game and taking the 56-point win in front of a loud home crowd. The Caledonia Gladiators got back into the win column before they head out on the road to play a strong Newcastle Eagles team.

The Gladiators came out strong in the first quarter, taking a quick 7-0 lead in the first two minutes of action. Despite the Wildcats getting onto the scoreboard, the Gladiators stayed in control of the game. The Gladiators would initially struggle from three in the first quarter, with most of their points coming from within the paint. Behind their strong defence the Gladiators were able to limit the shot attempts of the Nottingham Wildcats, keeping them to just 8 points in the first 10 minutes. The score after the first quarter was 20 – 8 to the Caledonia Gladiators.

The Gladiators kept their foot on the gas in the second quarter, increasing their 12-point lead to 33 points at the end of the first half. The Gladiator continued their strong defence in the second quarter, keeping the Wildcats to another 8-point quarter, while they found their rhythm from three. The Gladiators would shoot 50% from three in the second quarter, starting the second quarter with three three-pointers!

The Half-Time score was 49 – 16 to the Caledonia Gladiators.

The third quarter saw the Gladiators continue their momentum, putting up another strong 24 points during the 10 minutes of action.  The Gladiators were strong on both ends of the ball as they gave up only 4 points during the third quarter, further increasing their lead in front of the loud Playsport arena. With the three young Gladiators leading the way, the Gladiators found themselves up by 53 points entering the final 10 minutes of action.

The final quarter would be close, with the score being 14 – 11 to the Gladiators, but the Gladiators would cruise to a 56-point victory at home. Strong performances from the whole team helped the Gladiators bounce back after last week’s defeat to Oaklands Wolves and give the team momentum into their next match-up against the Newcastle Eagles.

Tonight’s MVP was Kerry McGhee with another strong showing in front of the Playsport crowd.
