The Newcastle Eagles, however, refused to give up, and they slowly began to chip away at the Gladiators’ lead as the game went on. In the final quarter, the Eagles turned up the intensity and started to make their shots, closing the gap between the two teams. With just a few minutes left in the game, the Eagles managed to tie the score.
The tension in the arena was palpable as the game went down to the wire. Ben Mockford made a number of threes to put his team ahead, ultimately sealing their victory. The Caledonia Gladiators fought until the very end, but unfortunately, it was not enough to overcome the Eagles’ late surge.
Despite the loss, the Gladiators can hold their heads high, knowing that they can claim 4th place this Sunday against the Surrey Scorchers and will also seek revenge next Thursday as they meet the Eagles once again.
