Caledonia Gladiators can confirm the return of Scottish star point guard, Robyn Lewis, to the roster for the next two seasons. This comes following an impressive first season in a Gladiators jersey, having previously played with teams across the league.
‘Rob’ has had a successful career so far in the UK. Prior to joining the Gladiators, Lewis had featured in the rosters of Cardiff Met Archers, Caledonia Pride, and Leicester Riders, in her 9-year pro career. Now, heading into her tenth, she is hoping to continue the impact that she had on the squad from a leadership perspective.
The 5’4″ Scot contributed massively on the court, playing over 30 minutes a game in WBBL Championship action. She scored 5.1 points, grabbed 2.5 rebounds and dished out 3.6 assists per game, whilst adding to the team in ways not shown on the stat sheet with her hustle play and determination throughout games.
In her development when she was younger, Robyn came through St. Mirren’s (now Basketball Paisley) pathway, also representing Scotland at every level prior to embarking on her professional career. This summer, she was a part of Chema Buceta’s GB camps alongside teammate Erin McGarrachan, having also represented Great Britain at the U20s level.
Lewis said: “I’m so excited to be back and to be able to commit more time to the team this year. The club is moving in such a positive direction and you can feel there’s a real buzz around everything. Here is home for me – it’s a dream come true to play in an arena like this, it’s going to be amazing.”
Robyn joins a selection of Scots to return to the franchise so far. You can expect plenty more news in the coming weeks in terms of roster and arena development.
