We are delighted to announce that 6 foot 9 American power forward/centre Trevond Barnes is the first mens new import signing of the 2024/25 season!
Trevond who has just turned 27 attended Hampton University for the full four years of his NCAA eligibility after growing up in Alabama, steadily building towards an average of 9 points, 6 rebounds and 2 blocks per game in his senior year. During this time, he won the MEAC regular season in 2016 and 2018 MEAC tournament in 2016 and was a finalist in 2018. He made the Big South Conference all-academic team in 2019.
He first turned professional in Georgia for BC Vera in a short stint before signing again in Georgia the following season for Mega winning the A-League and playoffs. Known for his rebounding, he finished fourth highest for the stat in his league.
In 2021-22 he joined Grengewald Hostert in Luxembourg staying there for two seasons again picking up a winners medal from the Nationale 2 and getting an all-league honorable mention in 2023 in his second year with the club. By this point in his career he was averaging 16 points, 9 rebounds, and an impressive 1.3 blocks per game.
His talents improving each season, he moved to Imortal in Portugal last season facing off regularly against giants Porto, Sporting Lisbon and Benfica and proved himself one of the league’s best 4 men, averaging 12 points 6 rebounds an assist and a steal per game.
Coach Gareth Murray said on the signing:
“Trevond Barnes is a dedicated player with a strong work ethic.”
“He showcased impressive skills in Portugal last year and is versatile, able to play at both the 4 and 5 positions on the court.
“Known for his low-maintenance approach, he brings value to any team he’s a part of.”

Trevond is the fifth signing of the season on our men’s team and joins existing players Fahro Alihodzic, Fraser Malcolm, Kyle Jimenez and Patrick Whelan in coach Murray’s squad.
