We are delighted to announce that Erin McGarrachan and Robyn Lewis have extended their enduring stays at the club by another season!
Erin, the current Gladiators captain re-joined the club in 2020 after stints in Austria with BK Duchess Klosterneuburg and Leicester Riders following an excellent NCAA career at Houston Baptist University where she finished her senior year earning an average of 14 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, a steal and a block per game!
Erin has been a member of the Scottish and British national teams, has achieved numerous honourable mentions and all-player nominations throughout her career including being in the all-domestic team last season.
A 32-year-old and 6-foot-tall forward from Glasgow, Erin has picked up an Austrian Cup winners medal and has numerous runners-up medals including the UK Trophy (2017), League (2017, 18 and 2024), Playoff (2018) as well as Austrian League (2019). She’ll no doubt be looking to add to her Austrian Cup silverware this season!
Robyn Lewis, 33, is the beating heart of the Gladiators and makes it season three with the Gladiators. With plenty of previous experience in the league before with Leicester Riders from 2014-2016, Caledonia Pride from 2016-2017 and then Cardiff Archers from 2018-2021 she is a well-known face around the league and is a welcome addition to coach Handy’s squad.
Robyn, who admits herself that she would not have been the biggest surprise addition to the roster this season is nevertheless a more than competent guard in the league and continued to play major minutes in last season’s squad, a firm favourite with the Caledonia faithful.
Coach Chantelle Handy said on the signings:
“Erin is central to our team culture and we are so pleased to have her back for another season. She is a very versatile player who always leads by example. A true Gladiator.”
“Robyn brings the intensity that sets the tone from the top. Her ability to defend at a very high intensity, and lead her team is exactly what we need at the PG position.”
Both mentioned their excitement for the upcoming games:
Erin is sponsored by our charity partners Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity and Robyn by Wm Donnelly & Co.
Both join Hannah Robb, Kirsty Brown, Tea Adams, Mathilde Domenger, Delaynie Byrne, Maya Price and Kat Tudor in coach Handy’s squad.
