For fans attending Saturday night’s British Basketball League fixture at 8 PM, please be aware of the full closure of the Whirlies Roundabout for essential resurfacing, which will be in effect all weekend.

This closure will undoubtedly affect queuing and busyness in the area, so please plan your journey to PlaySport accordingly. The game will tip off at 8 PM, with the FanZone opening at 6.30 PM, as scheduled, and in the event of any alterations, changes will be communicated via our social media channels.

Further, there will be additional road closures during these works:

  • The A749 Kingsway between Mavor Roundabout and Whirlies Roundabout will be closed to through traffic, with access to the retail park only (Lees Burn Court) from Mavor Roundabout.
  • The A725 Kingsway between Whirlies Roundabout and Whitemoss Roundabout will be closed in both directions.
  • The B783 East Mains Road will be closed in both directions between Whirlies Roundabout and Gullion Park.
  • There will be no access to or from Whirlies Roundabout and Calderwood Road.

A diversion will be in place via Stewartfield Way, hence the direct impact on PlaySport. You can find out more information about the closures HERE, or follow Traffic Scotland on Twitter/X for updates.

Tickets are still available for the game, as we welcome our closest rivals, Newcastle Eagles, to PlaySport for the first time. Secure your seats HERE!
