In a week that showcased electrifying talent in exciting action across the league, the Caledonia Gladiators’ American forward, Trent Buttrick, made a resounding statement. Buttrick’s standout performance in his only game of the weekend secured his spot in the week’s British Basketball League All-Star Five.
In an encounter against the Surrey Scorchers, which took place in the Gladiators’ state-of-the-art new arena, PlaySport, Buttrick demonstrated his wide skillset. The Pensylvianan’s impact was nothing short of impressive, putting up 15 points, 10 rebounds, and 2 assists, and taking home the game’s MVP award.
Buttrick’s impact on the game extended beyond his individual statistics. He orchestrated the league’s UNBEATABLE Play of the Game, making the pass for a jaw-dropping dunk by Fahro Alihodzic, which left the sell-out East Kilbride crowd in awe. This highlight-reel play showcased the synergy and excitement that the Gladiators are able to bring to the court.
Reflecting in a post-game interview, Buttrick said: “We ended up fighting this win out and sticking together, we had a great home crowd out to support us. It felt good to be at home. We will keep working, keep getting better, and hope to take this into the next game.”
