Caledonia Gladiators can today confirm the signing of former Serbian U20s international, Tamara Jovančević, for the remainder of the 2022/23 WBBL season.
The 24-year-old enters the league with lots of experience across the continent. So far, she has played in France, Czech Republic and most recently her home nation with ŽKK Vršac. There, in the Serbian A-League, she averaged 8.8 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 1.8 assists in 24 minutes of action per night across 13 games.
Upon her arrival in Scotland, Jovančević said: “I’m very excited to be here with the club and in Scotland. I’m looking forward to all of the upcoming challenges. The Scottish people are very friendly and have been very welcoming towards me. Coming to a team this late in the season, I’m just looking to contribute to the team in any way possible.”
Gladiators’ player/assistant coach, Chantelle Handy, said: “We are excited to have Tamara join the team. She has a great attitude and is excited to get going. We’re forward to seeing what she will bring to the squad, and to have her be apart of the Gladiator family.”
The 6’1″ power forward joined the squad during this week, and is prepared to suit up against Nottingham Wildcats, making her WBBL debut. Get your last minute tickets to tomorrow’s game HERE!
