Returning home to Paisley for the first time in 2023, Caledonia Gladiators WBBL are to face Oaklands Wolves this Saturday in the Championship. Miguel Ortega’s side look to work on recent good form, following a recent Trophy 1st round win vs Thames Valley Cavaliers in Essex.

The two are yet to see each other so far this season. However, Caledonia are sitting in a better league position in comparison to Saturday’s visitors. The prior are comfortably in the playoff spots, sitting in 4th place, with the latter struggling more, seeing themselves in 10th.

Gladiators are in great form as of recent. In their last five games, they have come out victorious in four. Their only slip-up came against Leicester Riders at the Emirates Arena in October, losing by three points in a closely contested game.

Miguel Ortega’s squad has been led by GB legend Chantelle Handy – averaging 15 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game. She is being supported especially by Erin Jones, and Erin McGarrachan on a points front. The latter of which was named in the latest WBBL All-Star Five for her spectacular performance last week. At the weekend, two Gladiators SBC players, Emma Kerr and Sally Campbell, got their first professional points.

Erin Jones, Téa Adams, and Robyn Lewis are set to return to action after missing previous fixtures due to injury and illness.

For the visitors, they have only won two out of their last five – with victories coming against Manchester Met Mystics and Cardiff Met Archers. Their 2-6 record is the third lowest in the league so far. Grace George has stood out so far for Oaklands, averaging a staggering 22 points, 6.8 rebounds and 2 assists per game.

It is certainly looking to be a great game, with plenty of fan activities planned for the day alongside exciting basketball action, with the two teams competing for crucial points on the board. Get your tickets HERE!
