Gladiators centre, Yevheniia Putra, has been called up for the Ukrainian senior national team following an impressive run in the past few weeks with the Caledonia Gladiators.

The squads, released on Tuesday, included the 19-year-old, who will make her debut in the squad for the senior team in the EuroBasket 2025 Qualifiers this month. Putra’s side will face Serbia in Belgrade on 9th November, before welcoming Portugal to Riga, the national team’s temporary home, on 12th November. Both games will be streamed live and free on the FIBA YouTube channel.

In the summer, Putra represented the country’s Under 20s side at the Division B European Championships in Craiova, Romania, in a group with Chantelle Handy’s GB side. There, she put up an impressive average of 14.5 PPG and 9.2 RPG, as one of the key squad members.

This season so far, the youngster has impressed in the Women’s British Basketball League – featuring in the league’s all-star five lineups in two out of two fixtures so far, winning the Gladiators’ MVP in their home win against Durham – putting up 19 points, 6 rebounds, 5 steals and 3 blocks. Next, against Newcastle, she put up a double-double of 20 points and 12 rebounds.

After international duty, the Gladiators’ next home fixture comes against Essex Rebels on 26th November. Get your tickets from £6 on the FanBase app HERE!
