The Caledonia Gladiators are pleased to reveal the first in-person imagery of our new arena, ahead of our British Basketball League home opener this Thursday against Surrey Scorchers.
The facility, built on the site of PlaySport in East Kilbride, is a part of Steve and Alison Timoney’s ambitious plans for a £20 million building project. The 1600-seater venue will play host to the Gladiators’ men’s and women’s professional sides, as well as aid the development of the club’s community and academy programmes.
This will be the first time the franchise has had a place to call home and will eradicate issues of venue hiring and limited court time which our professional sides faced before.
The move comes at an extremely exciting for the club, with the recently released BBC documentary; ‘Ballers: Ball or Nothing’, proving to be a success. As well as this, both sides have a European campaign ahead of them to be excited about, with the teams heading into the group stages of the FIBA Europe Cup and EuroCup Women respectively – alongside domestic competition.
The club would like to thank the fans who attended our test event yesterday and look forward to welcoming another energetic crowd to East Kilbride on Thursday evening. You can get your tickets to the historic game HERE!
