Caledonia Gladiators is thrilled to confirm that Scottish internationals Fraser Malcolm and Kyle Jimenez will return for another season, as the club looks to confirm the men’s roster in coming weeks.
The duo’s return comes as both players prepare to represent Scotland at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, where basketball will once again take centre stage in front of a home crowd.
6’6” Falkirk-native Fraser Malcolm and Edinburgh-born Jimenez are renowned to Gladiator fans for their integral role claiming the Gladiators’ BBL Trophy in 2023 – the first trophy claim in over 20 years for a Scottish club.
Malcolm and Jimenez both make Glasgow 2026 their third time representing Scotland in the Commonwealth Games and bring a wealth of experience to Caledonia Gladiators, each returning for the third season.
Fraser Malcolm said: “I’m delighted to be back with the Gladiators. On the back of a tough season, we’ve got a great opportunity to build and strengthen the team. With Glasgow 2026 on the horizon, it’s an incredibly exciting time to be playing basketball in Scotland and I’m extremely proud to be representing both my club and country. I’m looking forward to getting back on court with the team and our supporters, and hopefully we create some new fans on the back of our Glasgow 2026 performance.”
Kyle Jimenez added: “Re-signing with the Gladiators was an easy decision. While last season we didn’t get the results we hoped for, our passion hasn’t faded and we’re coming back with even more fight in us this year, with big ambitions for the season ahead. Having the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow makes this an even more special period for Scottish basketball, and I’m excited for what’s to come.”
Their continued commitment to the Gladiators reflects both the club’s ambition and the growing momentum surrounding the sport across the country, with the club set to start making player announcements for both the men’s and women’s team in coming weeks.
Caledonia Gladiators CEO Tony McDaid commented: “Fraser and Kyle are fantastic examples of true Scottish talent and we’re proud that they can both represent our club on an international scale as part of Glasgow 2026. They both bring leadership, experience and an unwavering commitment to the club’s culture, while also serving as excellent ambassadors for basketball in Scotland.
“With Glasgow 2026 fast approaching, this is an important moment not only for the Gladiators but for the wider game. Having our players competing on the Commonwealth stage will inspire the next generation of Scottish talent, showcase the strength of Scottish basketball and welcome new fans to our home games in East Kilbride.
“Work is continuing behind the scenes on finalising recruitment and further support for both teams as we focus on our ambition to build a basketball nation, with teams that deliver the results that we all set out to achieve. We’re making excellent progress in building competitive rosters for the season ahead and we look forward to sharing further signing news with our supporters over the coming weeks as we continue to strengthen the team.”
The re-signings mark another important step in the Gladiators’ preparations for the upcoming campaign, with the club focused on building a team capable of competing at the highest level while continuing to develop Scottish talent. Fans should watch out for further player announcements in the coming weeks.
